PATRICK FEENEY DESIGNER

I was responsible for the design of the GAZE programme for 2021, GAZE is an LGBTQ+ Film Festival held each year in Dublin. Building on my work around light and renewal, I leant into the concept of a festival of light. I wanted to create a fantasy world of sorts, rooted in queer history and utopian ideals. I decided to include bright colours on the external elements, but went with a more simple duotone style internally, giving myself a little more room to breathe in terms of graphic elements. My favorite pages are the designs for the shorts, incuding my window motif and abstract edits of the film stills.

My poster design ties into the mystical style I adopted for the rest of the festival. However I wanted to create a design that was visually distinct from the rest of the work, but that had elements linking it back to the original concepts. I was also responsible for generating a new logo for the festival, which featured a 'shining light' motif to represent a new dawn for queer cinema.
